Portable Electronics Vendor
Title 38, Chapter 97 of the South Carolina Code of Laws defines the regulations and requirements for a Portable Electronics Vendor.
Application:The application must be completed online through NIPR and is to be completed by an officer of the portable electronics vendor. Upon completion, the application should be submitted to the licensed supervising entity (licensed insurer or licensed business entity). The licensing and appointing entity must ensure that the application is completed properly.
Certificate of Authority, Certificate of Existence or Partnership Agreement:A certificate of authority or certificate of existence is required if the portable electronics vendor is organized as a corporation. A partnership agreement is required if the portable electronics vendor is organized as a partnership. If the portable electronics vendor has been licensed in any other manner, that certification of licensure must be provided.
Appointment Form:The appointment form should be completed by the licensing and appointing entity.
License Fee of $1,000:The check must be issued by the supervising entity (licensed insurer or licensed business entity) and made payable to the South Carolina Department of Insurance.
The supervising entity must submit the entire application packet to the department for review and consideration. If approved by the department, the license will be mailed directly to the portable electronics vendor. The vendor is responsible for notifying the supervising entity upon receipt of the license.
